¿Se imaginan cómo sería si las aplicaciones web pudieran ver, o escuchar? Pues en la
nueva versión estable de Google Chrome
, podrán hacerlo si ustedes les dan
permiso
.
Esta nueva versión de Chrome incluye la
API getUserMedia
, misma que les permite dar acceso a las aplicaciones web a su cámara web y micrófono, sin necesidad de instalar un plug-in. La API getUserMedia representa el primer paso para el
WebRTC
, un nuevo estándar de comunicación en tiempo real que tiene como objetivo permitir las comunicaciones con alta calidad de video y sonido en la web.
La API getUserMedia también permite a las aplicaciones web crear nuevas y sorprendentes experiencias como
Webcam Toy
y
Magic Xylophone
. El experimento
Sketchbots
del
Chrome Web Lab
utiliza getUserMedia para permitirles tomar una foto de su rostro, convertirla en una ilustración formada por líneas, y luego enviarla a un robot en el Museo de Ciencia de Londres. Después, el robot dibuja su retrato en un montón de arena, mientras ustedes lo observan en vivo a través de YouTube, y los visitantes del museo lo ven en persona.
Una vez que hayan tomado la foto, es transformada a un dibujo de líneas para que el robot pueda entenderlo utilizando HTML5 canvas.
Su retrato es dibujado por uno de los ocho sketchbots en Londres. Pueden elegir que se les envíe un video de todo el proceso.
Adicionalmente, la versión estable que estamos liberando el día de hoy también incluye una
mayor integración con Google Cloud Print
, un
mayor soporte para los controles de juego
(gamepads), y
soporte para la resolución de las pantallas Retina
