Una mayor experiencia de inmersión en Google Maps con WebGL

Hoy nos complace anunciar el lanzamiento beta de
Google MapsGL
, la versión mejorada y experimental de Google Maps con tecnología WebGL.
WebGL
es una nueva tecnología web que integra en el navegador gráficos 3D acelerados por hardware sin necesidad de instalar software adicional. Al incorporar la potencia de WebGL en Google Maps, resulta posible ofrecer una experiencia de mapas más completa con edificios 3D en los que se puede explorar, transiciones más uniformes entre imágenes y una entrada fluida a Street View. Todo esto tiene lugar en tu navegador, sin necesidad de utilizar complementos.
Desde hoy, aquellos usuarios que utilicen navegadores y tarjetas de vídeo compatibles están invitados a participar en el lanzamiento beta anticipado de esta experiencia mejorada de Google Maps. Solo hay que visitar
Gogle Maps
y hacer clic en "¿Deseas probar algo nuevo?" (ubicado en la esquina inferior izquierda de la pantalla).
WebGL hace posible una nueva clase de aplicaciones web con gráficos envolventes y ricos, normalmente reservados para aplicaciones de escritorio
nativas
. Con Google MapsGL, esperamos fomentar una nueva generación de gráficos en la Web, además de comenzar a redefinir las expectativas de un mapa online.
